Mackenzie Smith

Dr. Mackenzie Smith is the Director of Airborne Operations and Field Science at ChampionX Emissions Technologies. Mackenzie holds a B.S. in chemistry from Muhlenberg College and a PhD from Harvard University in Environmental Science/Atmospheric Chemistry. After studying the effects of water vapor on the phase state of atmospheric aerosols for her PhD work, Mackenzie switched gears to the study of trace gas emissions using airborne measurement platforms during her postdoctoral work at the University of Michigan. Mackenzie joined Emissions Technologies in 2017 as a flight scientist, and now manages the scientific and aviation aspects of the ChampionX Emissions Technologies manned-aircraft program. She enjoys explaining the science behind our methane emission detection and quantification methods to customers, as well as analyzing real-time data while flying in the aircraft. Mackenzie has participated in and overseen measurements all over North America, as well as Mexico, and Romania.
